Attended the International Conference on Eating Disorders 2016

Thoughts…

Last week at the International Conference on Eating Disorders, two themes stood out. First, our LIVED EXPERIENCES matter along with how those can get missed in eating disorders research, data, and generalizations. Second, our LANGUAGE/LANGUAGING matters along with how we can bolster or limit by the choices of words we use as professionals in the field. Both are very important ideas and topics to consider in any professional’s work.

Yes, all the research was interesting and likely useful in various instances or clinical applications. However, coming home with lessons/awareness that feels applicable to clients, life, friends, and family can feel most valuable…

Last year was about academic and clinical lessons. This year was about life lessons. ‪#‎ICED2016‬
